Kid Beyond

Once in a rare moon Kid Beyond makes it down to L.A. for a show. My friend Aaron and I had dinner with him and his sound guy last night and then he played at the Key Club. The show was fantastic.
I remember Andrew from the a cappella days, and as the first vocal percussionist for the House Jacks. Nowadays, he's still beatboxing as well as live looping songs (he builds lush multi part songs from scratch right on stage -- it's insane). This video is a good introduction to his technique.
And, to tie things together nicely, he'll be performing at Maker Faire.

Going to Maker Faire

I'm hugely excited to be attending Maker Faire. I'll be showing some of my contraptions at the MAKE Magazine booth. If you're going, please stop by to say hi. I'm bringing some things I've written about in the magazine, such as my Hydraulic Espresso Tamper, LEGO Recharge Station, and upcoming RFID iConveyor. But mostly I'm going to look at fire breathing robots.
